Restorative Bodywork

In my 22 years of practice, I've developed an appreciation for both the internal and external systems of the body. This has led me to create a unique system of healing that I call Restorative Bodywork. I incorporate acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), massage modalities, herbal therapy, and more to create a whole-body system of wellness. Through this comprehensive therapy, patients are able to accomplish deep healing with natural methods. TCM is one of the oldest healing systems on the planet. It's been in continuous practice for thousands of years around the world. Rooted in the laws of nature, TCM identifies and treats illness and prevents disease by viewing ourselves, our world, and our health as a part of the whole, taking every part of our lives into context to find optimal health and balance. I find great comfort and success in viewing my own healing approach in a similar way… rooted in nature and honoring our intrinsic ability to heal and strive for balance.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine needles through your skin at strategic points on your body, along energetic channels known as meridians. Acupuncture rebalances energy flow (qi), reduces pain, and improves circulation.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing. Read more here.

Electrical Stimulation

Electroacupuncture is similar to traditional acupuncture in that the same points are stimulated during treatment. Needles are inserted on specific points along the body, which are then attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses designed to enhance healing.

Meditation

Meditation is the practice of turning your attention to a single point of reference. By focusing on the breath, on bodily sensations, or on a word or phrase known as a mantra, we rebalance our bodies and facilitate calming and healing. Meditation reduces stress and improves the quality of life.

Gua Sha

Gua She is a traditional Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising. Gua sha releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing.

Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture is one of the more widely used microsystems within eastern medicine. Microsystems use one aspect of the body, for example, the ears, hands, or feet, to treat conditions that are present anywhere in the body. Auricular acupuncture may be used as a primary mode of treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as acupuncture, bodywork, or herbal medicine.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal therapy is one of the most widely used TCM treatment modalities. It relies on unique formulas designed with the individual in mind, rather than a general approach, for the treatment of illness, the optimization of health, and the prevention of disease.

Qigong and Tai Chi

Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvenation is a timeless beauty technique used by Chinese royalty. It uses specially designed facial needles to lessen the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles. It improves circulation and stimulates the body's natural antiaging powers, as well as improving overall health.

What is TCM?

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an aggregate of healing modalities, which includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, Tuina massage, dietary therapy, Tai Chi, and Qigong. It is ultimately based on Taoist philosophy and rests on several thousand years of observation, clinical experience, and scholarly research. The treatment methods and herbal formulas are empirically proven and have been refined over the centuries by many schools and many healing masters. It is a very stable and comprehensive system, yet it is also open-ended, able to incorporate any successful new methods. Chinese researchers have been applying scientific methodology to aspects of Chinese medicine for decades; Western scientists have jumped on the bandwagon more recently as interest in Oriental medicine has grown. The National Institutes of Health have classified traditional Chinese medicine as a “complete medical system.” Scientific studies, both in China and in the West, have tended to substantiate the efficacy of Chinese medicine techniques and herbal therapies.
